iPhone 6 to Hit Store Shelves July 2012

If you can believe the rumors, the iPhone 6 will be flooding store shelves starting in July 2012. This may be hard to believe at this point as the iPhone 5 struggles to find a release date, though it is expected to show up sometime in the fall.

Most of the speculation surrounding the iPhone 5 will also be true of the iPhone 6. It’s rumored the device will sport a massive 4 inch screen that occupies the entire face of the device, going from edge-to-edge. This doesn’t leave any room for the classic home button, but rumor has it that the home button may be integrated into the display itself.

The iPhone 6 may also be the first device to use a new organic battery technology called ORB. ORB was developed by Japan’s NEC and it is much more environmentally friendly than the current lithium-ion batteries that contain dangerous heavy metals. The best part about ORB is how fast it charges. It only takes about 30 seconds for a full charge that will last longer than traditional lithium-ion batteries. ORB allows more power to be packed into a much smaller battery.

Another widely rumored feature of the new iPhone is a major camera upgrade. It’s rumored to be a whopping 10 megapixels and offers full high-definition image output. This is sure to be a major improvement over the rather lackluster cameras that have been packaged in the iPhone of the past. The upgraded camera is sure to improve the quality of the videos taken by the phone as well.

Nikkan, a Japanese newspaper, has reported that the upcoming iPhone 6 will include a new kind of glass that will make the phone thinner, lighter and consume much less power. The new glass is called Gorilla Glass, which as you may have guessed, is much stronger than traditional glass. This will give the new iPhone the toughest screen ever.

It’s also rumored the new iPhone will integrate a new technology, similar to Bluetooth, called Near Field Communciation (NFC for short). NFC works at much closer ranges than Bluetooth and will be used for things like scanning your phone to pay for things at the store or exchanging other information wirelessly.

iPhone 6 release date is set to revolutionize the phone industry once again, just as the original iPhone once did. The new features will no doubt make this the best iPhone ever made, if not the best phone ever made. Until July of 2012 all we can do is wait patiently.
